Sloggin' Thru Blogging: Time Needed for Topical Posts

Unless you run one of those magnificent huge blogs that receives outrageous numbers of hits daily, you need to make plans before providing time sensitive posts. If you are going to announce an upcoming event or provide other time sensitive material (avoid rants as they tend to become outdated extremely quickly and won't serve you well over time ... even if they do feel oh so good in the moment), you are going to need to factor in some lag time. It takes three to four days for material posted to get noticed by the search engines and blog readers. So, plan for the future before making that big announcement. Factor in the delay between publication and reading. It will save you some grief and ensure your message gets out when you want it to get out, and not days later.

Good luck, fellow bloggers!
